PhD defense Kai Kappner
Successful PhD Defense of Kai Kappner at the Chair of Management Accounting!
We congratulate Kai Kappner on his very successful PhD thesis on "Economic, Environmental, Societal and Technological Impact Factors in
the Transition of the German Energy System – Investigations from a
Prosumer’s Perspective“. We thank Sandra Venghaus as second examiner as well as Aaron Praktiknjo and Oliver Lorz for serving in the doctoral committee.
Kai's dissertation includes a methodologically strong analysis of the German energy transition and the participation of private households in the generation and consumption of energy from renewable sources (including sector coupling). His work could not be more timely. His doctoral defence took place on the same day when the Heating Act was stopped by the Constitutional Court.
During his time at the chair, Kai participated in the EU project RESERVE (http://www.re-serve.eu) which focussed on the conversion of electricity networks in Europe away from central, conventional electricity generation to the challenges of decentralized electricity generation from 100% renewables. He contributed to the project by successfully addressing and analyzing new business models.
