Sustainable Business Models for the Electricity Grid of the Future
The EU-project SOGNO (Service Oriented Grid for the Network of the Future) is building on the results of the EU-project RE-SERVE and deepens the technical and economic support of Distribution System Operators with the integration of 100% renewable energies.
Using cutting-edge information and communication technology such as the 5G mobile communications standard as well as deep learning methods, the control of the medium and low voltage networks are optimized to meet the intelligence requirements of the grids resulting from the volatility of distributed power feed-ins. Within the scope of SOGNO, marketable services are thus developed and tested, which ensure long-term intelligent network operation.
Our main task in the project is to develop new business models for the commercialization of these services. The need to make energy demand more flexible with the integration of renewable energy requires the collaboration of all market participants, institutions and other stakeholders involved in energy supply and consumption. In addition to economic feasibility, social acceptance as well as ecological advantages therefore form an integral part of the business models to be developed.
