What do I have to consider if I want to write my thesis at your chair?

Detailed information concerning the process of a bachelor or master thesis at our chair along with the required documents (guideline for editing expositions etc.) are available in our download area.

Which reference management software is recommended?

We recommand Citavi as reference management software for Windows computers. Students can download this software for free on the Citavi website.

The RWTH University Library also offers literature management courses for Citavi. We offer style sheets for the correct citation for Citavi and Endnote.

If you use a Mac or Linux computer we recommand Mendeley as reference management software. It's possible to use it at the same time as desktop and web application. The last fact allows easy teamwork.

 

 

Is there a style sheet or guideline for editing expositions?

Yes, we have a template for editing expositions in German. Furthermore we have a guideline for scientific writing in German with important references for writing your thesis at our Chair. These documents can be found here. These documents are mandatory for the preparation of your thesis at our Chair.

Which requirements should you have for a successful thesis?

  • Attending relevant courses regarding research methods that you want to use in your thesis, such as Introduction to Operations Research, Quantitative Methods of Economics, Experimental Economics (Master);
  • Visiting library courses "Fit for the Bib" and "Literature Research for Economics";
  • Furthermore we recommend you to attend relevant courses of the writing center;
  • High motivation to work on research-relevant issues with a relevant research methodology;
  • Relevant internships or practical experience for practical thesis;
  • Attending election courses of the Chair of Management Accounting
